(1) Minimize the resistance and acceleration resistance of the vehicle during driving. The higher the resistance, the higher the fuel consumption.

When the vehicle is driving on uneven roads, the amount of deformation of the suspension and tires increases due to its frequent beating, resulting in a large increase in rolling resistance. Compared with driving on a good road, fuel consumption increases by 30%-50%. Therefore, the construction road must be repaired and maintained. At the same time, the tire pressure of a vehicle has a great influence on the rolling resistance.

  • If the tire pressure is reduced on a hard road, the tire will deform and the rolling resistance will increase; if the tire pressure is reduced on a soft road, the contact area between the tire and the ground will increase and the pressure per unit area will decrease, which will reduce the rolling resistance.

The transmission ratio of each gear of the vehicle transmission has a great influence on fuel consumption. In the construction, the high gear with a small transmission ratio should be selected as far as possible to save fuel.

(2) Increase the engine compression ratio to the standard value. The compression ratio of diesel engines is generally between 16-22. The increase in compression ratio increases the temperature and pressure at the end of compression, which is conducive to the combustion and expansion of the mixture; the thermal efficiency of the engine is increased, the effective power is increased, and the fuel consumption is reduced.

The specific measures are: reduce the resistance of the intake system. The filter should be cleaned and maintained in time to ensure that there is enough air to enter the cylinder in time. Keep the vehicle in good condition. As for the cylinder pressure of the engine, the general diesel engine should not be lower than 20% of the original engine standard pressure, and the gasoline engine should not be lower than 30%. 

As for the pressure difference between cylinders, it is generally required that diesel engines should not exceed 8% and gasoline engines should not exceed 10%. If the cylinder pressure does not reach the specified standard, the valve should be ground and the piston ring replaced as needed.

It should also be noted that the coke deposits in the combustion chamber will automatically increase the compression ratio. Too high compression ratio and coke deposits are likely to cause the cylinder to deflagrate and increase fuel consumption. Therefore, it is very necessary to remove coke deposits; The clearance between the intake and exhaust valves must be adjusted to the specified value, because too large or too small a clearance will cause an increase in fuel consumption.
